Weaving
Since the construction of the North-South junction and the developments adjacent to it, the Chapelle train station has formed a barrier between Les Marolles, Place Rouppe and the city centre. It is literally on the fringes of these different neighbourhoods. The aim of the subJONCTION project is to become a real space for spatial and social links, a place for exchange and culture on different scales, not only by offering new spaces for multiple activities, but also by activating and strengthening the surrounding public spaces and reweaving a strong link between the neighbourhoods.

Revealing
The project is also about revealing the specific spaces of the Jonction, and making them appropriatable collectively and daily. These are unique places, in their architecture, in their soundscapes, but also in the physical conditions they offer. We propose to reveal them and to accept their constraints as well as their opportunities in order to give to these spaces a strong, shared and appropriable identity.

Traversing
The central point of the project, the entrance, is a large space that generously links Place des Ursulines and Brigittines Park. A series of new columns allows it to extend diagonally across the site and into the restaurant area. More than just a passageway, it is a real place to live, one that can be appropriated, a generous space linked to the outside world and to all the functions of the socio-cultural centre. It offers a unique experience of the specific structure of the junction: the new oblique views guide us through its imposing parallel walls. It is the heart of the new facility, the bridge between the neighbourhoods, the place where people and time meet.
