The RTBF building in Mons is a rather anachronic building, designed in the sixties and built in the late eighties by Groupe Structures, who also designed the old Nato offices in Brussels.
It hosts radio studios and a concert hall of the public french speaking radio channels. The entrance hall is completely clad in white varnished rough pine multiplex: a kind of rock and roll version of carrare marble for the classic rock radio. This huge furniture piece fits closely to the available space and hosts all functions. Like an invasive but symbiotic species, it colonizes space and provides it with the air and light that are vital to the building.
