The library is completely developed on a single floor. It is an extensive, open landscape of books and book-related activities.
However, the induced flexibility and openness does not contradict the precise fitting to specific uses required by the library. A subtle arrangement of slightly different levels and columns organizes the space, and a row of closed rooms articulate the library with the street.
The arches of the facades create a very accessible, open and public architecture. The wooden structure of the compact, yet flexible volume is combined with natural lighting and strong insulation, producing a sustainable architecture in the broad sense.
