The Marni Theatre is a dynamic and multidisciplinary place, holding a wide range of spectacles. The aim of the intervention is to make the building conform to current regulations, in particular the emergency exits and the disabled access, while solving acoustic problems and various functional issues.
The new slab supported by three inverted pyramidal columns reorganizes the internal circulation of the theatre, and maximises the use of the space with a minimum of investment.
The slab divides the large main hall into two spaces, creating a large entrance hall on the ground floor and a large theatre hall on the first floor. The entrance hall with a large bar is a polyvalent space which can also be used for holding concerts and dining events, which form part of the Marni programme.
The adapted theatre hall makes efficient use of the existing structure. The existing and currently non used balcony seating acts as main seating area, improving the current viewing angle. The technical equipment used for the spectacles can be placed between the beams under the ceiling, maximising the height of the scene.
